"The challenges of neonatal asphyxia and its contribution to neonatal mortality are well-known in developing countries."
"From the 9th – 10th of April this year, the Nestlé Nutrition Institute Africa (NNIA) and University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Nigeria, conducted a workshop on neonatal resuscitation where two groups of healthcare professionals (Doctors and Midwifes) from both private and government health institutions received training."
"The workshop was facilitated by Dr Temitope Obasa and focused on:Lesson 1: Overview and Principles of ResuscitationLesson 2: Initial Steps of ResuscitationLesson 3: Use of resuscitation devices for positive-pressure ventilationLesson 4: Chest CompressionThere was a practical session afterwards where participants were grouped in five and received a hands-on practice on Ventilation and Chest Compression. The trained HCPs are committed to further sharing this skill / knowledge with the various teams in their institutions. Ambu bags, the most important tool for artificial ventilation, were also given out to all the institutions represented."
