NNIA Partners With Lagos State University During Paediatic Faculty Day Lecture
The Faculty of Paediatrics graduated young paediatricians, poised to provide paediatric care in Nigeria and beyond
The theme for the Faculty Day lecture was: “Sustaining the current trends in reduction of under-five mortality in sub-Saharan Africa: the challenges, the pains and the gains”, by Prof. W.N Ogala, a distinguished paediatrician.
One of the paediatricians, Dr Idowu Sebanjo, who is studying the Postgraduate Programme in Paediatric Nutrition (PGPN) through the Boston University School of Medicine and supported by NNI, had a stepdown presentation on ‘Paediatric obesity: an emerging crisis’.
The event attracted more than 200 paediatricians and paediatric nurses from hospitals both within and outside Lagos State, Nigeria.
An NNIA scientific booth was set up to further enhance HCPs understanding of the science of nutrition and the NNIA. A total of 115 paediatric doctors and nurses were duly registered on the website.
Handbooks on Essential Care for Every Baby; Helping Babies Breathe and leaflets on the NNIA were presented to delegates.
Paediatricians had fun with the balloon game where each balloon had nutrition information tips sourced from NNIA journals.
